I completely agree with what you&#039;re saying about the amount of time to teach so much. As for how productive, linguistically this task was given that this was an impromptu lesson (I had actually planned a classroom-based lesson that had nothing to do with this work, but had to think in my feet) I felt it was good for consolidation and also to  introduce that class to the idea of looking at one anothers&#039;s work and talking about the work that had been done so that in the future they are used to it when set more demanding tasks. In addition the class thoroughly enjoyed the activity and some even did some extra French work at home, which can never be a bad thing, linguistically, can it?
