Dear Star,
Absolutely not! And that's the reason that I read all of the literature available very carefully and researched for weeks on end before undergoing the procedure. However, I can only speak from my own experience and the experiences of those around me who have thought about laser eye surgery. My cousin's partner had it and is as pleased as I am and my husband was advised against it due to the condition of his eyes...they could very easily have turned round to him and agreed to do the operation, without a thought for the consequences, but they didn't. I think clinics like this would be very wary of carrying out a procedure that could lead to permanent damage because of fear of being sued it anything did go wrong.
Thanks for dropping by and taking time to comment :o

I think if they thought you were at all at risk they wouldn’t do the op.

Please never assume this--listen carefully when the negatives are explained. You do not want to muddle around with one seeing eye.

Hi Michael!
I know that there were risks...can't remember what exactly...none said "you may lose an eye"...so I felt safe. I made sure I went to a reputable clinic and it was all really well handled. I think there were complications that could happen such as detached retina (?) but I think if they thought you were at all at risk they wouldn't do the op. My husband went to discuss the possibility of having it done in the summer and was told that his retina was too thin so was at higher risk and they advised against it-disppointing for him but good to know that they don't do this "at all costs" and do act in the best interest of the patient. I went for it because I hated my glasses...they were very uncomfortable (several different pairs) and I couldn't wear contacts...they really made my eyes dry and sore. For me, it was definitely the right decision.

That's really interesting! I wear glasses, but have never really considered laser treatment, despite the inconveniences you've mentioned. How dangerous is the operation? Did they say that it could all go wrong??
